  • Plans, organizes and supervises the Nursing Service Department in order to provide adequate nursing care to the patient.
  • Ensures that the standards of nursing care is achieved and maintained.
  • Coordinates all activities of the Nursing Service Department with other service department.
  • Helps in providing safe environment to the patients and to the nursing personnel.
  • Helps the section/unit heads in ensuring that there are adequate supplies, equipment and emergency medicines are available at all times.
  • Reinforces health instructions given to the patients and their families.
  • Keeps herself updated with the present situation in the various sections/units pertaining to patient's needs and personnel concerns.
  • Officiates the screening panel in hiring new nursing personnel.
  • Deploys nursing personnel to their respective area of assignment.
  • Arranges work schedule, off duties and official leave.
  • Observes and evaluates performance of personnel.
  • Ensures that the harmonious relationship between the nursing staff is achieved and maintained.
  • A paradigm of self-discipline.
  • Involved in the deliberation of the disciplinary sanctions to be imposed to the nursing personnel.
  • Represents the hospital in professional meetings, seminars and scientific fora outside the hospital.
  • Promotes the professional growth and development of all nursing personnel by maintaining a program for staff education.
